When pasting is safe — and when it isn't

The risk rises when an instructor uses New Quizzes settings, a paste-disabling option, or a proctoring tool — any of which can flag or block a paste. Because you often can't tell which setup you're in, the prudent assumption is that pasting might be visible.
What a paste event does and doesn't reveal
Even in the worst case, a detected paste is a thin signal: Canvas can know that you pasted, never what you pasted or where it came from.
